§ The DEPUTY-CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. Maclean)I beg to move, "That the Bill be recommitted to the former Committee."
§ Sir G. YOUNGERI object.
§ Mr. MACLEANMay I just explain that the reason for this Motion is that a misunderstanding arose before the unopposed Committee on the Bill, and in consequence of that misunderstanding the Chairman of Ways and Means came to the conclusion that the parties ought again to go before the Committee. In those circumstances, I hope that the hon. Gentleman will withdraw his objection.
§ Sir G. YOUNGERI am very sorry. I was asked by my hon. Friend the Noble Lord the Member for Dover (Viscount Duncannon) to object to the recommittal of this Bill. I really do not know for what reason. I assume that it is a formal objection, but I cannot myself depart from the promise I made.
