HC Deb 06 May 1914 vol 62 c259
10. Mr. HOARE

asked whether it is intended to continue the Grant under the Unemployed Workmen Act?

41. Lord HENRY CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked whether, in view of the fact that no provision has been made in the Estimates, it is the intention of the Government not to ask for any money this year in connection with the Unemployed Workmen Act, 1905?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Estimates have in this matter followed the procedure of previous years. It has been usual to wait until later in the summer before deciding whether the Unemployed Workmen Act shall be further continued, and, if so, what provision by way of Grant should be made. No decision has yet been arrived at this year.

Mr. HOARE

Is it contemplated that if the Act is continued a Grant will be made?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

No decision has been arrived at on the matter at all. I am following precedent.
