HC Deb 06 May 1914 vol 62 cc259-60
14. Mr. LEACH

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture what is the minimum and maximum wage paid to agricultural labourers for a full week's work, and the respective counties in which such wages are paid?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. J. M. Robertson)

The lowest average earnings—including all allowances and extra payments—are those in Ireland, and the highest are those in the north of England and south of Scotland. As, however, these averages vary somewhat according to the different classes of labourers employed and to the conditions under which they serve, I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of the latest report, in which he will find full particulars of the average earnings in each county.
