HC Deb 04 May 1914 vol 62 c26
48 and 49. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether he can see his way to introduce a Bill embodying the policy of the Government with regard to payment of Members, so that the House may have an adequate opportunity of discussing the whole question, and (2) whether he has yet made any arrangement in regard to the time to be allotted to the Vote for payment of Members of this House?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not prepared to introduce legislation as suggested. As I have already stated, a discussion on this question can be arranged through the usual channels, but I understand that no arrangement has yet been made.

Mr. KELLAWAY

Will my right hon. Friend see that every opportunity is given to the large group of paid Members to explain why they continue to draw their salaries while feeling that they are not entitled to them?
