HC Deb 04 May 1914 vol 62 c26
47. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been given to statements made publicly by two ex-Ministers of the Crown enjoying political pensions, in which neither pensioner denies that he is at present possessed of adequate means to maintain his social position apart from his political pension; and whether, in view of the diverse interpretations thus shown to be placed on the declaration required of political pensioners, he will consider whether a new form of declaration might be required in future?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Asquith)

The matter referred to is under consideration.

Mr. HOGGE

Will the right hon. Gentleman, before he takes away these pensions, bear in mind the increased cost of living?
