HC Deb 30 March 1914 vol 60 c808

asked if, with one exception, the companies comprising the Beef Trust of Chicago have paid no income Tax for a period of about ten years although their aggregate overturn in this country is nearly £20,000,000 per annum; if the matter has been before the solicitors' department at Somerset House for about eighteen months; and whether any proceedings have been taken against the companies in question, and, if so, with what result?

The facts of the case are not quite as stated, but the matter has received, and is continuing to receive, the careful attention of the authorities.
