HC Deb 30 March 1914 vol 60 c808
10. Colonel BURN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether Civil servants who join the Territorial Force are only allowed one week's pay when they serve their country by attending the annual camp for fifteen days, in order that they may become thoroughly efficient?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Montagu)

Civil servants in the Territorial Force attending fifteen days' camp receive special leave with full Civil pay in addition to Army pay, rations, and allowances for one week, and they can receive full civil pay for the whole period by devoting a week's ordinary leave to camp. Alternatively, they may take one week's special extra leave without pay.

Colonel BURN

Does the hon. Gentleman consider this encouragement on the part of the State is likely to assist the recruiting of the Territorial Force?
