HC Deb 19 February 1914 vol 58 c1115
31. Mr.BOYTON

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he is aware that the footbridge across the canal in the Park Road, Regent's Park, opposite Charlbert Street, is closed to pedestrians; the date when it was closed; the probable date of the reopening; and if he is aware that the closing of the bridge causes great inconvenience to the inhabitants of the district?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The date of the closing of the bridge was 17th September, 1913; the date of the reopening will probably be the end of March next. My Noble Friend much regrets the inconvenience caused; the delay is due to the necessity for thorough investigation as to whether it would be necessary to rebuild the bridge or possible to repair it.
