HC Deb 27 April 1914 vol 61 c1310
14. Mr. FIELD

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he can state the ports in Great Britain which are now open, with their respective regulations for fat and store live stock from Ireland; and whether it is intended to reduce the period of detention and allow the animals to be forwarded for sale to markets or auctions?

Mr. HERBERT LEWIS

I have nothing to add at present to the answers which I gave to questions on this subject ort Thursday last.

38. Mr. JOYCE

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether he is aware that there-has not been any case of foot-and-mouth disease in the city or the county of Limerick for the last thirty-four years, and that during the late outbreaks of the disease there was not even a suspicious case found in either this city or county; and, if so, whether the time has come to have the port of Limerick opened for the shipment of animals?

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL (Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture, Ireland)

I regret that it is impossible to sanction the opening of the port of Limerick at present.
