HC Deb 19 June 1913 vol 54 cc524-5
4. Mr. RONALD M'NEILL

asked how many district inspectors of the Royal Irish Constabulary are still unretired although they have completed forty-one years' service and upwards; where they are stationed; and what special reasons exist for retaining these officers in the force after they have reached the age of retirement?

Mr. BIRRELL

There are four district inspectors at present serving in the Royal Irish Constabulary who have completed forty-one years' service. Three of them have not yet attained sixty years of age, and are therefore not eligible for retirement; and in the remaining case the officers' services are being retained in the public interest.
