HC Deb 19 June 1913 vol 54 c524
3. Mr. BOLAND

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he can explain the cause of the delay on the part of the Estates Commissioners in carrying out their promise to Patrick Doyle, Kilgobnet, on the estate of the late Sir Rowland Blennerhassett; whether he is aware that by their letter, dated 29th October, 1912, the Commissioners proposed to make a free grant of £106 to Patrick Doyle, namely, £56 for the purchase of stock and £50 for the erection of buildings; and whether, in view of the fact that this grant has not yet been given, steps will be taken to expedite the matter?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

The grant which the. Estates Commissioners propose to make in this case will not be expended until the sale of this estate has been sanctioned, and the Commissioners are in a position to vest the holdings in the purchasing tenants.

Mr. BOLAND

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when this will be effected?

Mr. BIRRELL

I cannot say exactly; very soon.
