asked whether the Admiralty have recently acquired from Sir Arthur Nicolson 3½ acres of land in South Lerwick, Shetland Islands, for a wireless telegraph station; and, if so, what rent or feu, or what price, is being paid by the Admiralty for the land?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Steps are being taken to acquire from Sir Arthur Thomas Nicolson 3¼ acres of land near Lerwick for a wireless telegraph station The feu duty is not yet fixed.

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that it has been stated this land is worth 5s. an acre?

I do not know about the details. I do not know whether the hon. Member is under the apprehension that Sir Arthur Nicolson is permanent head of the Foreign Office. I am informed that there is no connection between them.
