HC Deb 09 June 1913 vol 53 c1249
36. Sir P. MAGNUS

asked whether an insurance committee can place any limit on the number of insured persons to be allotted to a medical practitioner; and, if so, by what principle the committee are guided in so doing?

Mr. MASTERMAN

It is the duty of the insurance committee in each area to see that the arrangements for medical benefit are such as to secure that the insured persons in their area receive adequate medical attendance and treatment. Subject to this, it appears to be undesirable to fix in advance a maximum number of insured persons to be allotted to a doctor, as the number for whom a doctor can properly be responsible must necessarily vary according to the circumstances of each particular case.
