HC Deb 15 January 1913 vol 46 c2054
21. Mr. BAIRD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any information regarding the internal conditions of Somaliland?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

So far as I am aware there have been no recent developments of importance in the interior, with the exception of a dervish raid on the Dolbahanta Jama Siad in which the latter lost about 400 camels, and had two men killed. With regard to the coast districts steps are being taken, and with considerable success, to put a stop to inter-tribal raiding. An engagement recently took place in which the Government Camel Corps heavily defeated a body of raiders.
