asked the rate able value of the borough of Hanley and the amount raised in the borough for the relief of the poor for last year, the rate able value of the City of London and the amount raised by the city for the relief of the poor for last year, and the rateable value of the borough of Westminster and the amount raised for the relief of the poor for last year?

The rateable values of the parish of Hanley (which is co-extensive with the area of the late county borough of Hanley), the City of London, and the City of Westminster, are £245,000, £5,731,000, and £6,626,000, respectively. The amounts contributed last year by these areas towards the expenses of the Poor Law guardians were £21,967, £345,270, and £411,426, respectively.
