HC Deb 04 November 1912 vol 43 c824
23. Sir HILDRED CARLILE

asked the Secretary of State whether, in view of the failure of the commissariat methods adopted, or the entire absence of any, on several recent occasions when the Metropolitan police have been employed on special duty, he can say if efficient arrangements have been made in order that for the future their needs in this respect shall be promptly and efficiently supplied?

Mr. McKENNA

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on the 31st October in answer to a question on the same subject put by the hon. Member for South St. Pancras. Occasional cases of hardship arise from the sudden demands to which the police are liable from the nature of their duties, but these are rare, and when they occur they are cheerfully faced by the men. There has been no failure of the existing system.
