HC Deb 19 June 1912 vol 39 cc1659-60
37. Mr. CASSEL

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the fact that at the Building Societies' Congress, held at Cardiff on the 30th May last, a resolution was unanimously passed in support of the Bill that has been introduced to substitute, in the case of appeals under the Housing, Town Planning, etc., Act, 1909, a judicial tribunal for the Local Government Board as the appeal tribunal; and whether, in view of this resolution and similar resolutions passed by many local authorities, he is willing to adopt the Bill referred to or himself to introduce a Bill for the like purpose?

Mr. BURNS

My attention has not been drawn to the resolution referred to. I do not propose to adopt either of the courses suggested in the question of the hon. Gentleman.

Mr. CASSEL

Will the right hon. Gentleman allow me to forward him a copy of the resolution?

Mr. BURNS

I shall be very pleased.

38. Mr. CHARLES BATHURST

asked how many applications have been made to the Board by county councils under Section 13 of the Housing, Town Planning, etc., Act, 1909, for orders conferring upon them the powers of district councils under Part III. of the Housing Act, 1890, and in how many cases have such orders been made?

Mr. BURNS

No applications have been made.
