HC Deb 17 December 1912 vol 45 c1286
51. Mr. BARNES

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he is aware that John Simon Brown, a minor, of Langside Road, Glasgow, has been subjected to inoculation of antitoxin serum at the Belvedere Hospital, Glasgow, contrary to the wishes and protests of his father; and if he can do anything to prevent patients being so treated against the wish of parent or guardian?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

I have inquired into the matter, and am informed that the hospital authorities were not aware of the father's wishes, his letter having been addressed to the medical officer of health. I shall be pleased to give my hon. Friend the detailed information in my possession, which I am sorry I find cannot be sufficiently condensed for a reply to a question.
