HC Deb 27 November 1911 vol 32 cc35-6
Viscount WOLMER

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will cause copies of the National Insurance Bill to be printed in which all Clauses and Schedules that were never discussed in Committee shall be printed in italics?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

No, Sir; the information is readily available in the Journals of the House.

Viscount WOLMER

Are we to understand the Government do not want the people of this country to realise that about half the Bill was not discussed?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

No, Sir; the Noble Lord has asked me to set up a new precedent and an unnecessary precedent.

Mr. H. SMITH

Would it not suit the convenience of the Government if they printed in italics the part of the Bill that had been discussed?
