§ The PRIME MINISTERThe Government have stated more than once that they are anxious for the earliest possible opportunity of discussion, but that they thought that it might be better to wait until after the Morocco arrangement had come before the French Chamber. Whether that will happen in the course of the present week I do not, of course, know, though I am told that it is unlikely. In the circumstances, we think a statement and Debate on foreign policy in this House should not be further delayed, and will give Monday—this day week—in any event for that purpose. The Government will put down a 817 Motion which will enable my right hon. Friend to begin the Debate with his explanatory statement.
