§ Mr. MARTINasked the Prime Minister if regulations have been made for the guidance of committees assisting Lords Lieutenant in recommending persons for appointment as magistrates; and, if so, will he cause the same to be communicated to the House?
§ The PRIME MINISTERWhen committees are appointed to inform and advise the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Lieutenant, the practice is to send to each member of the committee a copy of the Report of the Royal Commission, and a short memorandum drawing attention to certain passages of it. There is no objection to communicating a copy of the memorandum either to any Member of the House or to the House itself if it is desired.
§ Mr. WATTHave any members of this committee, especially in Scotland, received complaints about the regulations to guide the committee?
