HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 c816
Mr. MARTIN

asked the Prime Minister if regulations have been made for the guidance of committees assisting Lords Lieutenant in recommending persons for appointment as magistrates; and, if so, will he cause the same to be communicated to the House?

The PRIME MINISTER

When committees are appointed to inform and advise the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Lieutenant, the practice is to send to each member of the committee a copy of the Report of the Royal Commission, and a short memorandum drawing attention to certain passages of it. There is no objection to communicating a copy of the memorandum either to any Member of the House or to the House itself if it is desired.

Mr. WATT

Have any members of this committee, especially in Scotland, received complaints about the regulations to guide the committee?
