HC Deb 08 November 1911 vol 30 cc1639-40
Mr. GOLDSMITH

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether the East Suffolk Council have applied to the Board for sanction of the purchase of forty-two and a-half acres in the parish of Haughley for the purpose of small holdings; whether the Board have refused their sanction; and whether he could state the reasons for such refusal?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Runciman)

The answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the affirmative. The Board declined on 21st July to sanction the purchase because they considered the price to be excessive, but they have recently expressed their readiness to reconsider the matter if the county council will furnish them with a report on the land by a competent professional surveyor.
