HC Deb 08 November 1911 vol 30 c1640
Mr. FELL

asked if the right hon. Gentleman has any staff and appliances to test the quality and the amount of saccharine contained in the experimental growths of sugar beet; and if he is prepared to receive samples and to make the necessary analysis?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I regret that the Board are not at present in a position to undertake this work. I am in communication with the Development Commission on the whole question of the development of the sugar beet industry.

Mr. FELL

Is it not the fact that the experiments in growing beet have been made at the suggestion of the Board of Agriculture, and, if so, should not those experiments be completed?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I must have notice of that question.
