HC Deb 24 May 1911 vol 26 cc253-4
Mr. WATT

asked how the advisory committee in Glasgow to assist the lord lieutenant in choosing suitable men for the justiceship of the peace in that city came to be formed; did the Lord Chancellor take the initiative and communicate with any particular individual in Glasgow asking him for suitable names; if so, with whom; and, if not, in what manner did the Lord Chancellor get the local knowledge?

Mr. URE

I am informed that if my hon. Friend desires the names of the advisory committee for Glasgow they will be supplied to him, but that it is impracticable for the Lord Chancellor to enter upon particulars such as those asked for in this question.

Mr. WATT

Does the right hon. Gentleman know that out of seven members of this committee five belong to the Tory party, and does he know what a Glasgow Tory is?
