HC Deb 23 May 1911 vol 26 c145
Mr. PARKER

asked the hon. Member for Southampton, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether it is intended to give the post of lift attendant in the House of Commons now vacant to a person from outside; or whether the post is to be given to one of the present staff, who by custom are entitled to such promotion?

The TREASURER of the HOUSEHOLD (Mr. Dudley Ward)

This post is still unfilled. I am informed that there is not a constant practice as to such appointments being made from the staff. The matter is yet under consideration.
