HC Deb 17 May 1911 vol 25 c2003
Mr. GRETTON

asked when the Resolution which was foreshadowed dealing with blocking Motions on a Motion to adjourn for holidays will be laid; and if an opportunity will be given to consider the Resolution before Whitsuntide?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not at present in a position to make any general proposal, but I shall give notice of a Motion, to precede the Motion for the adjournment over Whitsuntide, which will, I hope, be adequate for this occasion.

Mr. JOHN REDMOND

May I ask whether the motion the right hon. Gentleman intends to move will be applicable only to those particular cases, and whether it would not be better in the interests of the House to carry out what is the general agreement, and make the resolution of general application?

The PRIME MINISTER

I shall be very glad to do so if I can find sufficient evidence of agreement as to the terms of a general proposal, but for the moment this one will deal with the occasion. I hope later on in the Session to make a larger proposal.

Mr. GRETTON

Will an adequate opportunity be given to discuss the resolution which the right hon. Gentleman intends to propose?

The PRIME MINISTER

Unless it is generally assented to I shall withdraw it at once.
