HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 cc10-1
Mr. HINDS

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that no money order office, savings bank, and telegraph office is established at Cwmbach, Llanwinio, Carmarthenshire, and that many of the inhabitants of the parish have to walk miles to purchase or cash a money order or get a dog, gun, or carriage licence; and whether he will remedy this inconvenience in a parish which is over ten square miles and which contains four hamlets?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I have inquired into the question of extending telegraph, money order and savings bank business to Cwmbach Post Office, and I find that the amount of such business likely to be transacted is insufficient to cover the working expenses. In these circumstances I regret I am unable to authorise the extension. I may point out that the nearest money order and telegraph office to Cwmbach is at Gellywen, a distance of two and a-half miles.
