HC Deb 21 March 1911 vol 23 c217
Mr. BURGOYNE

asked the Secretary of State whether, in the public interest, he will consider the advisability of abandoning the limitation in regard to the various types of air-craft whereby rigids alone are allotted to the Navy whilst the Army has charge of semi-rigids, non-rigids, and aeroplanes, and of creating a new war service, irrespective of either Army or Navy, to deal with all types of air-craft and to work in harmony with the existing services as an integral part of the national defences?

Mr. HALDANE

The existing division of work was arranged by the Committee of Imperial Defence and appears for the present to work quite satisfactorily. It must be remembered that the Advisory Committee is at the disposal of both the Admiralty and the War Office, and that the knowledge and experience of each department is thus rendered available for the other.
