HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 cc559-60
Mr. JAMES PARKER (for Mr. George Roberts)

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if his Department has received an appeal from Mr. Herbert King, of South Beddington, to be allowed to retain possession of his present holding pending his taking up the land to be provided for him by the Kent County Council, with the undertaking that he receives such compensation as the law allows upon relinquishing his present occupation; whether King s request has received consideration; and, if so, has action been taken in the matter, and with what result?

Sir E. STRACHEY

Yes, an appeal was received from Mr. King, but in view of his refusal to accept what the Board considered was a very reasonable offer from the parish council, whereby Mr. King could have retained his allotment until his small holding was ready for occupation, the Board do not propose to take any further action in this matter. Mr. King is not entitled to any compensation.
