HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 cc540-1
Mr. FRANCIS MEEHAN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that the estate of John Flood, situated at Cornagee, Dowra, county Leitrim, has been offered for sale to the Congested Districts Board through the Land Judge's Court, and that the Court refused an offer of £621, although the net yearly rental was only £36 18s. 2d.; and whether, having regard to the poor quality of the land, the inconvenient situation of the property, and to the fact that the poor tenants will soon be called upon to pay another year's rent at the old high rate, the Board would take such steps as are necessary to bring about the completion of the sale and thus relieve congestion on the estate?

Mr. BIRRELL

The offer made by the Congested Districts Board of £621 has been refused by the Land Judge, and the Board cannot take any further steps until the estate is offered for sale by auction in the Land Judge's Court.
