HC Deb 28 June 1911 vol 27 cc418-9
Sir CLEMENT HILL

asked whether the Chancellor of the Exchequer is aware of the existence of provident dispensaries which are charitably aided and secure to their members and their families, as well as to their widows and children, complete medical attention and medicine for sums varying from Id. to 3d. a week; and whether he has considered the injurious effect which the compulsory payments under the National Insurance Bill are likely to have upon such institutions?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I will refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Taunton on 24th May. It is the intention of the Bill that existing organisations which wholly or partly cover the ground to be included in the National Health Insurance should be preserved and utilised rather than displaced.
