HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 c662
Mr. STEWART

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will say when he will be able to give a statement as to the benefits accruing to officers and men of the mercantile marine under the National Insurance Bill; how will the contributions be arranged, in view of the fact that many serve on vessels which do not carry doctors and to whom, therefore, medical attendance afloat is impossible, while others serve on ships carrying doctors and at the present time receive medical attendance free of any charge?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am not able at present to make a statement as to the special arrangements, if any, which may be necessary in the case of contributions and benefits of officers and men of the mercantile marine. Inquiries are pending in regard to this matter.
