HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 cc661-2
Mr. CHARLES BATHURST

asked whether the terms of Clause 51 of the National Insurance Bill will apply to premises belonging to the Crown and in the occupation of insured persons in receipt of sickness benefit?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

In the absence of any express provision or necessary implication to the contrary, the Crown is not bound by any enactment in an Act of Parliament.

Mr. C. BATHURST

May I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman is aware that the Crown, as trustees of public money, have less hesitation in demanding rent than private owners?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am not aware of anything of the sort.
