HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 cc675-6
Sir FREDERICK BANBURY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether a man named Charles Self was employed by his Department last April on Census enumeration work; whether his wages for that work amounted to £2 13s. 5d.; and whether that sum has not yet been paid to him, though he has made repeated applications for it, and is penniless?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am informed that all orders for payment of enumerators were despatched to the Superintendent-Registrars by the end of May, and receipts have been received from all except three of the enumerators, of whom Mr. Self is not one. If the hon. Baronet will give me particulars of the district in which Mr. Self served, and any further information he may have on the subject, I will have inquiry made into the matter.
