HC Deb 15 February 1911 vol 21 c1045
Mr. SHERWELL

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the general desire for adequate and satisfactory consideration of all memorials and petitions relating to rates of pay and other conditions of employment submitted from time to time by civil servants and other State employés, and of the disadvantages which attend a detailed discussion of alleged grievances in Committee of Supply, he would favourably consider the appointment of a Standing Committee to which all petitions and memorials of the kind indicated can be referred for inquiry and report?

The PRIME MINISTER

As at present advised I am disposed to think that my hon. Friend's suggestion is not a practicable one. But I will bear it in mind.
