HC Deb 15 February 1911 vol 21 c1045
Mr. CARLILE

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability, in the interests of education, trade, and commerce, of making the metric system of weights and measures compulsory for all contracts of buying and selling in the United Kingdom?

Mr. BUXTON

I have been asked by my right hon. Friend to answer this question. I am not convinced that it would be in the interests of this country to make the use of the metric system compulsory.
