HC Deb 09 February 1911 vol 21 cc447-8
Mr. FELL

asked if any reduction was made in the past year in the number of men employed in the Coastguard Service, and if any stations round the coast were closed; and, if so, what are the names of the stations closed?

Mr. McKENNA

A reduction of 148 was made in the Coastguard force last year in order to bring numbers down to the present authorised establishment, and two Coastguard stations and one detachment were closed during the year, the stations being Queenborough and Killingholme, and the detachment Balaclava.
