HC Deb 09 February 1911 vol 21 c448
Sir CLEMENT KINLOCH-COOKE

asked whether it is intended that after 1st April the price of tobacco sold to men in the Royal Navy while on board ship is to be raised; if so, will he state the amount of the rise and whether it is the intention of the Treasury to raise the pay of seamen in the Royal Navy in like proportion; whether the rise is a consequential result of the extra duty under the Finance Act (1910–11); and, if not, why any advance in the price is considered necessary?

Mr. McKENNA

There is no intention of increasing the price of tobacco sold to men in the Royal Navy.
