HC Deb 14 December 1911 vol 32 cc2530-1
Mr. NORMAN CRAIG

asked (1) of how many persons the staff operating the annunciators in this House is comprised; and what provision is made in the case of prolonged sittings of the House for relief of that staff so as to ensure that the operation of the annunciators may be constantly efficient; (2) whether he is aware that dissatisfaction exists as to the manner in which the annunciators in the various rooms attached to this House are operated, both in regard to the delay in announcing new subjects of discussion and in the omission from time to time to make announcement that a new subject of discussion has arisen; and whether he will take such steps as will enable Members to engage themselves outside the Chamber without imperilling Motions standing in their names?

Mr. DUDLEY WARD

The maintenance, working and control of these annunciators are not matters for the Office of Works. The service is one which falls on the Vote of the Serjeant-at-Arms.

Mr. ASHLEY

To whom are we to address questions with regard to the unsatisfactory working of the annunciators?

Mr. DUDLEY WARD

To the Treasury.
