HC Deb 07 August 1911 vol 29 c791
Mr. DAVID MASON

asked whether, having regard to the responsibility which attached to this country as one of the principal signatories to the Act of Algeciras, and with a view to removing the present uncertainty and disturbance to trade and credit which had resulted from the recent action of Germany in Morocco, His Majesty's Government would take steps under Article 9 of the Act to make known to the diplomatic body their desire for an explanation of the action referred to?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir E. Grey)

I must ask the hon. Member to be content for the present with the statement the Prime Minister recently made to the House.

Mr. DAVI D MASON

Arising out of that reply, did the agreement with France, to which the Prime Minister referred, take place subsequently to the Act of Algeciras?

Sir E. GREY

Nothing can possibly arise out of that reply, except that I cannot answer any more questions on the subject.
