HC Deb 07 August 1911 vol 29 cc790-1
Mr. PIKE PEASE

asked the Undersecretary of State for War whether, seeing that Indian and Colonial troops present at the Coronation would receive a medal, he would consider the question of issuing decorations to all Regular and Territorial troops present?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Colonel Seely)

I am informed that only representatives of each unit which was present or sent a detachment to London for the Coronation will receive the medal.

Mr. PIKE PEASE

asked the Undersecretary of State for War whether decorations were issued to the officers commanding detachments of Volunteers at the Diamond Jubilee, and also at the late King's Coronation, and whether any decoration would be issued to officers who commanded detachments of Territorials at the Coronation of King George?

Colonel SEELY

On the previous occasions mentioned decorations were issued to officers in actual command of the detachments present. The same principle is to be followed on the present occasion, but I am informed that the detailed allotment for the Territorial Force has not yet been finally settled.

MARQUESS of TULLIBARDINE

Is that reply in accordance with the latest War Office circular on the subject?

Colonel SEELY

A fresh circular will shortly be issued giving the details which, as I have said, have not yet been settled.
