HC Deb 11 April 1911 vol 24 c226
Mr. WATT

asked whether any reply has yet been received from the Glasgow post office authorities as to whether the assistants in the telephone branch there, taken over from the corporation in 1906, are being deprived of their annual increment for six or eight months and if it is due, or whether any reply has been received since 23rd February last?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The great majority of the officers in question have received established appointments as clerical assistants, dating back to 1st June, 1907, and the increments of their class are, of course, being paid to them as they accrue. Three failed to satisfy the Civil Service Commissioners as to their physical fitness, and their case is still under consideration. I hope that a decision may be reached shortly.
