HC Deb 29 March 1910 vol 15 c1159
Mr. LYNCH

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to a resolution of the urban council of Kilrush desiring that the Vandeleur demesne in Kilrush should be acquired by the Department of Agriculture for the purpose of establishing there an agricultural college and school of forestry; and whether he is acquainted with the good site and good opportunity that would render the scheme proposed of great service to the prosperity of county Clare; and, if so, what action he proposes to take?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Department have received the resolution referred to. They are prepared to consider the question of purchasing these woodlands as commercial woods, but they are not prepared to establish there a school of forestry or an agricultural school.
