HC Deb 29 June 1910 vol 18 c927
Sir J. D. REES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the fact that legitimate traders paid 100 per cent, ad valorem on the import of tea into Southern Persia while tea smugglers carried on their operations practically unchecked, representations had been made by His Majesty's Government regarding the consequent loss suffered by British firms?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

This question has been under consideration, and we have given discretion to His Majesty's Minister to raise it when he considers the moment opportune.
