HC Deb 29 June 1910 vol 18 cc921-2
Sir ALFRED GELDER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the dock on the Humber that was to be available for the accommodation of ships of the "Dreadnought" type in 1911 was the Great Central Railway Dock at Immingham; if so, had the Admiralty made any arrangement with the railway company for the use of such dock; and, if so, was he prepared to state the terms of such arrangement?

Mr. McKENNA

There is no dock on the Humber which will be available for the accommodation of ships of the "Dreadnought" type in 1911.

Sir A. GELDER

Do I understand there is to be no dock on the Humber?

Mr. McKENNA

There is to be no dock there.

Sir A. GELDER

But did not the right hon. Gentleman state last Wednesday there was to be a dock on the Humber—that one of the two floating docks available would be there?

Mr. McKENNA

I do not think I stated one of the floating docks was to be on the Humber. If I did so, I was wrong. What I did say, I think, was there was to be a dock at Hebburn.

Sir A. GELDER

Then there is a misprint.
