HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 cc25-6
Sir HENRY CRAIK

asked the Lord Advocate whether, in view of the narrow majority by which the school board decided to close the school at Fordyce, and the strong representations made by various authorities in the counties of Aberdeen, Banff, Elgin, and Inverness against that decision, it would be possible to delay the proceedings until after the School Board election in April next, and so avoid the expense of probable litigation?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

After the fullest consideration of the subject in all its bearings in the light of the various representations made to them, the Department have come to the conclusion that they would not be justified in or attempting to interfere with the discretion of the school board in the matter.
