HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 cc6-7
Major ADAM

asked the Under-Secretary for the Colonies whether, in view of the announcement that all the agreements of commercial reciprocity recently made between the Government of the Imperial Dominion of Canada and the Governments of foreign countries have been made with the full knowlede and consent of the Colonial Office, the Government will apply the principles of this policy to the other parts of the Empire?

Colonel SEELY

Whatever course has been adopted with regard to Canada in the matters referred to would be adopted under similar circumstances with regard to the other self-governing Dominions.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Is the hon. Gentleman in order in referring to the Dominion of Canada as the Imperial Dominion of Canada?

Colonel SEELY

I think that that question should be addressed to the right, hon. Gentleman opposite?

Major ADAM

Will the Budget for the coming year, which we are going to have this month, embody some of those principles?

Mr. PAGE CROFT

Is it with the full knowledge and consent of the Colonial Office that these treaties have been made?

Colonel SEELY

Yes; that has been stated several times here.

Mr. PAGE CROFT

Was this treaty made with the full knowledge and consent of the Colonial Office?

Colonel SEELY

Oh, yes; that has frequently been stated here.
