HC Deb 27 July 1910 vol 19 cc2118-9
Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can state when he proposes to introduce the Bill to amend the Old Age Pensions Act; and if he will include in that measure a clause to exclude the savings of members of registered friendly 'societies from the calculation of the income of a claimant for a pension?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

It is proposed that this Bill should be introduced after the Recess. As regards the latter part of the question, I presume that the hon. Member has in mind the sick pay and other allowances made by friendly societies, and in that case I may refer him to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend the Member for the Tottenham Division on the 22nd ultimo.
