§ Mr. WHELERasked how many referees are to be appointed in connection with the Land Valuation (Finance Act, 1909–10), and at what salaries?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEThe number and the remuneration of the referees is still under consideration, and I am not at present in a position to make any statement on the subject. The panel of referees is made up by the Reference Committee—the Lord Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls, and the President of the Surveyors' Institution in England, and corresponding authorities in Scotland and Ireland. They are still considering the matter.

§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEI may refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for county Down, North, on the 4th instant.
§ Mr. GIBSON BOWLESIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that most noblemen and gentlemen and Members of this House now travel third class?
§ Mr. FELLasked if it is proposed to collect the duty on undeveloped land as each piece is valued; and, if so, on what principle will the land be selected for valuation, and how are the owners of undeveloped land, which may not be valued for possibly some years, to know how much they must set aside to meet the duty when it becomes payable?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEArrangements are being made to expedite as far as possible the valuation of land which maybe liable to Undeveloped Land Duty, and I trust that such valuation may proceed so speedily as to obviate the inconveniences which the hon. Member fears.
§ Lord BALCARRESWhen will this valuation begin?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEIt has begun already.
