§ Sir MARK STEWARTasked the Under-Secretary for India if he is aware that parents in India, and many interested in Indian students, desire that there should be more adequate machinery in London and at the university than at present exists for guiding and advising Indian students in this country; and, if so, if he will say what action he proposes to take in the matter?
§ The UNDER-SECRETARY for INDIA (Mr. Montagu)The Secretary of State has established an Advisory Committee in London, of which Lord Ampthill is chairman, and a Bureau of Information for Indian students under the charge of a specially qualified educational adviser. The hon. Member will find full information on the subject in my predecessor's Budget, statement on 5th August. of last year, and I propose to make a statement on the present position in my Budget statement.
§ Sir MARK STEWARTWill they be careful as to whom they appoint in charge of these young men in London?
§ Mr. MONTAGULord Ampthill's committee will consider both educational and moral questions. The whole case will be very carefully dealt with in my statement.
